Casting method

Time and cost pressures on engineers to achieve optimum performance at the lowest cost in an extremely short time frame are relentless. therefore, the best outcomes occur where there is a close working relationship between engineering and design, and casting suppliers. SCC have a long history of working intimately with our principal customers in this area. To further strengthen and improve the service a significant addition to complement the existing 3D CAD facility has been made. The investment in one of the acknowledged computer assisted simulation systems, MAGMASOFT.

We are now able to assess casting designs by applying mould fill and casting solidification simulations and offering assistance in the optimisation of casting designs.

Further, where component weights are critical, predictions can be given for residual stressing, the structure, strength and hardness of the material, at any given position on a section of the casting.

Thus the designer is able to work more closely to actual material specification data reducing the number of unknowns in the design equation.

All of this is now achievable before drawing/design release.
